Let’s call it straight… no fluff.
The 12th Annual Spring 150 Showcase in Oakland wasn’t our usual sell-out, wall-to-wall Division I loaded event. And that’s okay. Because if you really understand this game… you know it moves in cycles.
This year, It belonged to the young ones. And they made sure we paid attention.
They showed up hungry. Fearless. Competitive. No politics, no resumes—just hooping. Just proving. So while it may not have had the “big names” across the board…
Make no mistake:
👉 There were GEMS in the building.
👉 There were ballers who stamped their name.
👉 There were players who shifted from unknown to undeniable.
That’s what Spring 150 has always been about. Not hype. Discovery. Growth. Truth.
And this weekend delivered that in a real way.
Some players who caught our eye:
Darby Dunn | 5’7” | 2028 | Guard
Certified Firefighter. She runs to the smoke.
Darby is built on heart, motor, and elite fundamentals, and she backs it up with real shooting from deep. She competes every possession like it matters—and it shows.
That combination of grit + skill + shot-making travels.
High value player.
Brooklyn Batiste | 5’6” | 2030
All gas. No brakes.
She plays fast, aggressive, and downhill with a motor that doesn’t quit.
Right now, her athleticism and energy are ahead of her skillset… and that’s actually the exciting part. Because once that skill catches up?
👉 She becomes dangerous.
Sofia Wilkinson | 6’0” | 2031
A six-foot pogo stick with real upside.
Long, fluid, and disruptive. She rebounds, blocks shots, and runs the floor like a guard. Offensively, she’s comfortable inside and in the intermediate game.
Defensively👉 She guards EVERYTHING.
She has a chance to be special.
Alexis Epie | 5’9” | Guard/Wing
Steady growth. Every time I see her.
Her midrange is her bread and butter, and she plays with intelligence, patience, and purpose. She’s expanded her perimeter game and continues to evolve.
Versatile defender. Smart player.
Trending the right way.
Kya McCrae | 5’7” | 2030 | Guard
Let’s simplify it:
👉 Female Jalen Brunson.
Strong. Skilled. Crafty.
She controls the game with her pace, footwork, and decision-making. She can score from anywhere, drop dimes, and break defenders down with purpose.
She doesn’t just move, she manipulates defenders with her slick handle, high IQ, premium passing and tremendouse shot making ability.
That’s elite guard play.
Alekzandra Calderon | 5’6” | 2032 | Guard
Came from Nevada and made noise immediately.
Smooth. Skilled. High IQ.
And yeah… she’s a BUCKET.
Calm demeanor, but don’t get it confused—she’s a dawg with the rock.
Naomi Durrah | 5’6” | 2028 | PG
Dynamic. Explosive. Different.
She was blowing by defenders all weekend and finishing EVERYTHING:
• Inside hand
• Reverse
• Same leg/same hand
• Through contact
She didn’t just play fast—she played effective fast.
👉 Huge summer loading....... Book it.
Matalie Floyd | 6’3” | 2028
Raw… but loaded with upside.
Size, good hands, motor, mobility—you can’t teach that.
Her face-up game from the nail is legit, and she rebounds and protects the rim at a high level.
Add a jump hook + cleaner footwork and boom the flood gates will open.
👉 Next level doors will soon open up for the kid. FOLLOW HER NOW!
Peyton Thompson | 5’6” | 2032
She can flat-out shoot it.
Young, confident, fundamentally sound, and plays with joy.
Shooters like this who are efficient and fundament, you track them early. We are on it!
Taylor Ochoa | 5’8” | 2026
Does a little bit of everything—and does it well.
Shoots it at a high clip. She is really strong, very unselfish, moves without the ball. Competes consistently at a high level. She really does some of everything well.
The next step..............
👉 Be assertive consistently.
Because the tools are definitely there for her to help a program at the next level.
Kassidy Miller | 5’7” | 2029
Speed. Competitiveness. Coachability are ALL there for the kid!
She gets to her spots, applies pressure, and causes havoc. She embraces criticism and feedback—then applies it immediately.
That matters.
Next level for her:
👉 Improve release + extend range + finish inside efficiently.
Kassanii Peterson | 5’5” | 2032 | Guard
Creative. Confident. Skilled.
She has a natural feel for the game and can score it multiple ways.
There’s something there you don’t teach, you build on it, And she’s got it. With her confidence and swag offensively she can be a surefire premium bucket getter. She is on that trajectory.
Viviana Morales | 5’6” | Guard - 2030
She plays the game the right way. Joyful. and always Smiling. But don’t let that fool you—she’s competing fearlessly. Her fundamentals are tight, and she makes the right read consistently. That’s rare at any level. She’s the type of player every team needs:
👉 Reliable
👉 Smart
👉 Selfless
The consummate teammate.
Valero Maka | 5’10” | 2027
She's an Undersized post, but thats not how she plays.
She plays BIG, way bigger than her height.
Strong. Physical. Sets real screens—not fake ones. Rolls hard, understands spacing, and finishes.
But let’s talk about the separator:
👉 She rebounds EVERYTHING.
Effort + toughness + physicality = production.
And that always translates.
FINAL WORD
This wasn’t about star power on paper. This was about who showed up and made us believe.
And a lot of young ones did just that. They competed. They grew. They introduced themselves.
Because at Gems In The Gym…
👉 We don’t chase hype.
👉 We identify truth.
And this weekend........The truth showed up.
We see you.
And trust me…
We’re watching. 👀
