3rd Annual 36 Chambers Of Gems Camp Recap

Updated: Sep 23

The 36 Chambers of Gems Showcase is held in Oakland, California and is a one-of-a-kind basketball development event that pushes athletes to elevate their performance through an intense grind session. Unlike traditional showcases that simply focus on on-court skills, this event holistically prepares players by integrating critical elements like nutrition, strength, decision-making, and mental focus.

In preparation for the event, each player receives a one-week meal and sleep plan to follow, ensuring their bodies and minds are primed for peak performance. The goal is not just to teach basketball skills, but to emphasize the importance of rest, recovery, and fuel, providing athletes with the foundation for sustainable success.

The entire event is the brain child of Gems In The Gym Director Kameo Williams. The knowledgeable, dedicated and exceptional trainers who kept the players focused, working hard and on point were Delandro Leday, Brian Gaither and Robert Beasley.

The grind session itself is designed to push players to their limits. Athletes work with resistance bands, engage in core training, weightlifting, and cardio exercises such as the elliptical, all aimed at improving physical conditioning. However, the showcase goes far beyond physical training—players also sharpen their decision-making skills, focusing on in-game concepts that demand urgency, precision, and focus.

By combining these elements, the 36 Chambers of Gems Showcase builds stronger, more disciplined athletes who can thrive under pressure. This approach gives players a competitive edge, teaching them how to perform at a high level while maintaining accuracy and composure, key traits for success in the fast-paced world of competitive basketball.

Here are a few stand outs who caught our eye:

2025 - Simdi Chukwu (Bishop O'Dowd HS) - A 5'9" guard that is an extremely athletic, fast and aggressive slasher who excels at getting to the rim. Uses speed and agility to create mismatches on the perimeter. Defensively, she is quick, active and disruptive, using her length to challenge shots and quickness & anticipation shoot the passing lanes. Strong rebounder for her position.

2028 - KoKo Beasley (Benson Polytechnic HS) - A 5'8" versatile guard who can handle both point guard and shooting guard duties. Excellent ball-handler who can break down defenders off the dribble. Shows a good balance between scoring and distributing, making her a dual-threat. She has a great IQ, very efficient, doesn't make alot of mistakes. Extremely smooth.

2025 - Neeyah Webster (Bishop Gorman HS) - Neeyah is a 5'10 versatile wing who is an athletic and strong player who demonstrates impressive physical capabilities on the court. Her conditioning and strength allow her to compete at a high level, both offensively and defensively. She possesses the size and athleticism to match up against various opponents effectively on the perimeter. One of her standout skills is her exceptional midrange shot. She has a high basketball IQ, which enables her to create space and find open looks. Her ability to pull up off the dribble makes her a scoring threat from the midrange area, providing her team with consistent offensive production. Despite her strengths in mid-range shooting, Neeyah needs to work on her three-point shooting consistency. Improving her range will make her a more versatile offensive asset and force defenses to respect her outside shot, opening up more opportunities for both herself and her teammates.

2028 - Terrazia Smith (Lincoln HS) - Standing at 5'10", blessed with length and a tremendous first step, and the ability to get by the first defender with ease, then finish multiple ways over & around the next level of defense! She is active and pesky defensively! Her overall game leads me to believe she will be an impact Freshman for Coach Chris Roemer this upcoming High School season.

2027 - Henriana Hudson (Pinole Valley HS) - 6'4" mobile, great hands and athleticism is a tremendous canvas to draw on. If she gets her hands on the ball, whether it's one or two hands, she will most definitely control it. She is fluid, has good timing defensively, still raw offensively, but with some consistent development she can turn herself into an intriguing prospect.

2026 - Mahlaysia Atkins (Moreau Catholic HS) - Mahlaysia is a 5'11" versatile player who contributes on both ends of the floor. Solid mid-range shooter and capable slasher, using athleticism to finish at the rim. Defensively, she can guard multiple positions and is an active rebounder. Strong in transition, both as a finisher and playmaker. She can be creative off the dribble and has a variety of finishes inside the paint. With even more aggressiveness and consistency she could be one of the fast risers in the 2026 class in Northern California.

2028 - Dannyae Turner (Pinole Valley HS) - A 5’7” guard who can flat out boogie! She is so creative with the rock! She is athletic and acrobatic around the basket! She has the floater, midrange and a three ball in her arsenal! She is a bucket! If she makes plays for others at the same rate she gets buckets for herself then she will be dynamic this season for Coach Brian Gaither! She has “it”!

2029 - Lailah Kiros-Van (Beverly Clary MS) - She is 5’10” and has a lot of skill! She has good size for the guard position, but plays with a lot of finesse. Right now the midrange and drives are her go to! If she can lock in at a more assertive pace and focus then her game can really take off.

2027 - Catherine Ahart - (Enterprise HS) - I love the progress this kid is making! We have seen her numerous times and each time there is noticeable improvement. She is way more involved offensively. She moves well without the ball, finds the open player and does all the basics. Defensively she is physical and a capable rebounder for the guard spot! A good 5’10” athlete that is a reliable player.

2029 Tatum Prindiville (Charlotte Wood MS) - A 5’9”cerebral player with good overall perimeter skills, mostly a smooth jump shot, both off the dribble and in catch-and-shoot situations. Moves well without the ball, knows how to create open looks with good footwork on off-ball movement. Demonstrates solid defensive fundamentals, especially in on-ball defense, and is a decisive & unselfish passer.
